Award winning artist Jeff Snell is offering personalized instruction from his studio in the River Arts District, Asheville. In just a few days you’ll take home a gallery style artwork to display at the amazement of your friends and family. Do you have a creative spirit but don’t know where to start or how to proceed? Then take a journey into the mind of an artist! Jeff will help you choose a concept and develop a plan to achieve your final goal. With all of the tools and materials needed, you’ll move step by step towards the completion of a beautiful painting specifically designed for your home. Hello, Jeff Snell here. I’ve been creating since I was a young lad - it’s an obsession and a passion. I see the world through a different lens and I’d like to invite you come along during this exciting project… I think you’ll be amazed at what you can accomplish in a short period of time, so let’s put on our thinking caps, and have some fun with it!
After you sign up, we’ll schedule an phone conversation so we can discuss your past painting experience, our collaborative process in the studio, and what you envision the final artwork to feel like. You can choose a place in your home where you want to hang the new artwork, and together, we can develop a style that works well for the room. We will also figure out a color palette so your new piece looks fantastic! In the studio, you’ll learn to develop a balanced composition and create some interesting surfaces. We will be developing a series of layers using acrylic paint - so in the first session, you can be very free and spontaneous. There are no such things as mistakes. The second day is where we really tune things up and I’ll use my years of experience to help you “pull it all together”
Our finished stretched canvas can be as large as 36” x 36” give or take a few inches. You can choose from a variety of premade gallery depth canvases.
Because of our time frame is limited - abstract compositions or images that are simplified, work the best.
Feel free to look at my work in this website to get some ideas and you are welcome to visit my studio located at 191 Lyman St. Asheville, NC. It’s a safe space with adequate parking accessed by the public during business hours.
It’s good to have some painting experience but you don’thave to be well versed. If you're a hobbyist that’s fine… or maybe you’ e a professional artist and just want to shake things up a bit and work with a different approach!
Provisions:
A stretched canvas that’s primed and ready to paint.
Acrylic paints, mediums, tape, brushes and a place to clean them.
(Feel free to bring your own brushes or texture making tools ).
We will collaborate on your artwork from 10 AM till 4 PM with a lunch at 12:30.
Please bring your food and drinks. There are a couple places to get lunch items within walking distance of the studio.
Pricing:
Two consecutive days in the studio with one to one coaching by Jeff Snell. At the end you take home the painting, ready to hang. $1000.
Add an extra day for an additional $300.
If you would like to sign up with one other friend, we can accommodate. You two would be sharing a wall space that holds two canvases.
Two days for two artists. $800. each.
Add an extra day for an additional $250. each.

(In case you’re curious… The starting price for a 36” x 36” painting by a professional artist would be around $2000).
